Back home in Seoul

Back home in Seoul

I am back in Seoul since Saturday. As I have a gap before moving back into the dormitory at Ewha I am living in a Guesthouse in Seoul which is very close to all the places to go out.

Exploring the area around the guesthouse near Hapjoeng metro station.

In Seoul you can find several guesthouses. Many young travelers like to live here since the prices for a room are very cheap. My room costs converted into Euros about 17€/night. Although the room is really small it is okay to stay there for some days. Actually I spend most of the time at the wooden padio. The bathroom is shared with other guests and there is also a laundry room and a kitchen where you can cook.

I was happy about the kitchen since I have been eating out over the past 2 weeks. So it is nice to eat a very simple meal like rice with fried egg, kim (seaweed) and soy sauce.

But still my first lunch was one of my favourite Korean dishes: Soondubu jjigae - spicy soft tofu stew. Since the Japanese food is not spicy at all I was happy eating some Kimchi back in Seoul. Some of you might think I am already „koreanized“ haha. I guess I am. I like to put some rice on a spoon. The rice is very sticky so it sticks on the spoon and then you can dip it into the jjigae where the the soup and the tofu will stay on the spoon. This is sooo good. 😋

It was funny when he confessed to me that even he had a hard time to buy this Sim-card. I hope he did not lose too much self-confidence because of that. (haha j/k). (May 21st 24: Deleting this sentence because it sounds nasty when I reread it.😅 I'm so thankful for his help since I would have much more issues finding it without any korean knowledge.) After we successfully installed my Sim-card we had lunch together. We ordered Seolllong-tang. Tang means stew, just as jjigae does - but the difference is that jjigae are always served to be eaten together whereas tang are served to each person individually.

So now that I can move around Seoul without being afraid to get lost I decided to walk around the area of Sinchon and Hongdae. These are very fancy places to shop for many very fancy things. I found a nice coffee where I had some time to write my Blog and watch Koreans walking by.

Tomorrow I will finally move (the third time since I came to Seoul) back to Ewha and I am so happy about getting some daily routine soon. 😄

See you again!
