First sunday in Ewha

The next morning my new roommate and I went to get some coffee and breakfast.
On our way we discovered the convenient shops near the Campus which have almost everything an Ewha student needs. Inclusive coffee in bags.
Actually we did not try and ended up drinking coffee and having breakfast in one of those korean coffee shops. We spent our first morning talking about travelling, our different lives, Snowden, the arabian spring and the one-child law in China. I found out she has 3 sisters and is only using Facebook when she studies abroad as it is forbidden censored by the chinese government. Whereas such things are normal to the Western World, hHearing about how she thinks that this policy impedes their freedom of speech, made me reflective. I think she is a really smart and open-minded girl person. Getting to know her and her background substantiated one of my most important reasons to do this study abroad as I am getting the chance to meet new people and learn more about other cultures. Especially the confucian, asian culture.
After that I walked around my new Campus. The Ewha Womans University is very very pretty and big. As this summer is one of the hottest in the past decades (over 35 degrees) I did not made it very far. But here are some first impressions:
My next post will be about the start of two weeks participation at the Summer Session III "Reflections on Asian Food".
Thanks for reading my blog. Gam-sa-ham-nida.
