Skateboarding in Seoul

The midterms are over and I will finally have more time to enjoy my favorite season. Within the last 2 weeks Seoul has become so green and flowery, spring has arrived in Seoul so fast!
When looking for Skate-Shops in Seoul I discovered this video, SKATE Seoul:
I was so happy so see that those skaters driving around the spots in Seoul I have been and that it is actually possible to drive around here.
So I made an excursion to the Timber Shop located in the shopping district Myeong-dong on the sunny friday last week. The shop is located a little apart from the big shopping streets, so as a foreigner I would recommend you to use a map on your smartphone. I think I wouldn’t be able to find the shop without that. 😁 Very funny is that I met Daniel the guy from the Video in the shop, which made it a little easier to communicate in english.
At home in Hamburg I already have Cruiser Skateboard, so I decided to buy the smaller Penny Skateboard. They actually have the perfect size if you want to carry them with you in the subway or elsewhere to find new skate spots in Seoul. And for us girls I think they are cute. Moreover Seoul’s infrastructure actually offers a lot more spots to cruise around than in Germany as most of the streets and parks are very large and newly builded with very smooth grounds.
Although the decks of the Pennys are much smaller which means you have to keep your balance a lot more, trying one of them was really okay for me. Sooo, I bought one in a really cool old-school peach color. Also, I got recommended to go to Yeouido for trying my new Penny. So whenever you are interested in skateboarding in Seoul I can recommend the Timber Shop. The guys there are really nice and helpful. 😊
I was so excited and of course went to Yeouido, the city Island in Seoul where many Koreans like to go for picknicking, jogging, bicycling or.. skateboarding!
After trying my new Penny on a Skateboarder spot I drove alongside the Han River all the way up to the Dangsan-Line 2- Subway-Station. There were some parts which were not so smooth to skate but all in all it was a chilly, sunny and very nice place to cruise around with my Penny into the sunset!
Next time I will try to find a skate-park. So hope you are looking forward to my next post. ^_^V
